Just wanted to say Hi to my peeps!

I made this card the other day for a Featured Stamper challenge on SCS and thought I would use it to say Hi since I have been slacking on updating.

So what is going on in the Ridg household.....enjoying the summer by the pool. We spent Father's Day at Hilton Head....a spontaneous trip to the beach. The kids loved it...playing in the ocean and in the sand...it was hard pulling them away from it all, it was hard leaving the beach....I love the beach, although it is not the same, with kids and having to worry about the sun and what it is doing to my skin. But having a tan makes you look thinner and how else can I get vitamin D?Next year our family vacation will be at the beach.

DH started a new job and he will be working from home now, it should be a nice change. I know he is already enjoying not having to drive in the ALT traffic which is the worst in the country! Plus all the $$$$ are starting to add up in his head come tax time.

Finally updating!!!

Ok faithful readers (do I have any?), I know if has been a really long time since I updated! Life had gotten a little bit more busy for me with the new year!!!

So what is going on in the Slinky household...we have joined a small group, I have started volunteering at church (we are going to Northpoint)twice a week and the boys are both enrolled in their pre-school! Peanut loves school and his teachers...his teachers are great! Jeff is busy with work!

The end of January Riley turned 4 and we have a party for him at the house. Our house was filled with 18 pre-schoolers and at least one of their parents...can you say CRAZY!!! It actually didn't turn out to bad...the kids were either playing in the playroom or in the bonus room. We ordered pizza and I made some ziti for the parents. His party theme was Cars (the Disney movie)!!!

And Peanut will be turning 2 at the end of April!!! Boy does time fly, some days not fast enough!! ;) Grant will get to celebrate his birthday in Disney and then again at home! We are going to Disney the end of April and then the grandparents will be coming in the day after we get back!

Now most of you know one reason why we decided to move South is to escape the snow but looky what happened the week before Riley's birthday.....

We actually go a couple of inches of snow in January! The kids loved playing in it...the good thing is it only lasted but a day and was gone the next.

I am glad to stay that we officially have sold our house in TN! As of lunch time yesterday, everyone had signed on the dotted line and we are now FREE of the house in TN! I was at my Beth Moore Bibe study, Living Beyond Yourself and the session was on Joy, when J texted me and told me all the papers had been signed and it was a done deal! Talk about joy....I literally started to cry I as so happy...I am sure everyone around me thought I was crazy but if you have ever paid two mortgages then you know the relief it brings when you are freed of one!!! All I said was, "Praise God!"

Really, really listen to the words of this song....it gives me goosebumps and a huge lump in my throat!!!!

I haven't posted too many cards so consider this catching up.

I have been in a few swaps (Splitcoast) so I will share what I have made!

Riley's First Day of School

Riley has been having a great time at school and I have been catching up on some house stuff during that time. He goes M-W-F. This Monday, we have Moments with Moms...I will get to go to school and spend some time with him in his classroom and then we will go to chapel as a class. It should be fun!

WE HAVE A CONTRACT ON THE TN HOUSE!!!!

PRAISE GOD...we have a contract on our house in TN. We are scheduled to close on Oct 15!!!! Please pray that we will close and nothing will get in the way of the closing! Just wanted to share...still plan on posting Riley's first day of school...I know I am little behind considering he started two weeks ago!

Pachelbel Bedtime

Is this how you would sum up bedtime at your house?

URRRRRRR!

I can't sleep since my darling pre-schooler woke me up!!!! He has been waking up and coming down stairs and will just stand at our bedroom door and when he sees no one is going to respond, he goes back upstairs to bed. But I hear him and pretend that I am sleeping! Why am I the only one who hears him and J gets to sleep soundly!!!! So here I am!

I am actually having one of those weeks as a parent where you feel like nothing you do is right....actually it's been a few weeks....and nothing seems to penetrate their little brains, which is so frustrating!!!! Everything I say seems to go in one ear and out the other.... you discipline and your child just looks at you or cries for 5 seconds, I guess they cry to make you feel better, and then acts like nothing has ever happened and continues to do the very same thing he just got disciplined for!! Is it just me? What am I doing wrong...it just seems like nothing is working!!! UGH!!! No wonder I am so tired!!! Anyhoo...that was my rant!

I guess I will post something crafty while I am here!



These are jr sizes legal pads...they are on the inside...I forgot to take a picture. The initials are for the special secret gals I made them for! They were fun to make!!! I found the "how -to" on Splitcoast.



Supplies: Pick a Petal stamp set, Cardstock: Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabit, Soft Sky, Whisper White. Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, and I forgot what color I used for the center. The initials are chipdboard from local suppy store. All supllies Stampin' Up unless stated.

Here is a card I made some time ago. It's called a matchbox card since it opens like one., again "how-to" on SCS.


Supplies: Vases in Vogue hostess stamp set, Fall Flowers Designer Paper, Cardstock: Soft Sky, Kraft Whisper White. Ink: Black, Soft Sky, Old Olive marker, and Groovy Guava. Crystal Effects. Marvy Scalloped Punch....not sure what size.



Ok... I think I will try now and go back to sleep. Maybe sometime tomorrow I will try and post Boog's first day at pre-school!

Ok, since J started blogging I guess I will too! I do have to admit though some of you may be bored since I will post my stamping stuff!!! Some of you aren't the crafty type...you know who you are! :) I will also post some family going-ons!

So what is new with the Slinkys....we are still a two mortgage paying fam!! Nothing yet!!! Keep on praying!!!

The boys are good...Boogs (don't ask...aka R) will start pre-school at the end of Aug and then it will be just me and Peanut! Oohhhh what will we do!!! The Rockstar (as J is know by the boys) and the Queen (me, according to the Rockstar) will start going to a small group at our new church, North Point Community Church . The pastor is Andy Stanley, Dr. Charles Stanley's son. I didn't even know Dr. Stanley had pastored a church here. Although we miss Rex, we have been blessed with by the pastors that have taught us. Besides that nothing else.

IT'S CRAFT TIME

Ok for those who aren't crafty you may want to stop reading and come back another day! :) For my friend, H....I actually did this while the kids watched tv....I know I AM A BAD MOTHER!!!!! Here is something I made today for a challenge at SCS...if you are crafty and haven't been to this site...BEWARE....it can and will get you in trouble. I have other things I have created that Iwill post over time!
